Anticipation prepares the viewer for something the character is about to do, like running, jumping, swinging, etc. The animator includes a slight preparatory motion that subconsciously lets the viewer know what
the character is about to do. Examples would be if a character is about to jump then they will first bend their legs just like in real life, or if they are swinging then they will bring their legs back and then spring
forward, everything they do leads up to the action that the animator truly intends for the character to do, it just makes it more realistic.
